between emma calming rikki down when she nearly boils alive that illegal fish vendor who scammed her. and getting rikki to come to the moon pool during her breakdown the first time she gets moonstruck. it really is like emma is the only one who is able to talk rikki down when she is angry or anxious or afraid. i just think that rikma

an entirely exhaustive list of good things about season 3 of h2o: just add water

• zane buying rikki a café and naming it after her even if it lead to the lobotomy of his character
• nate’s character development from feared antagonist to the physical embodiment of a meme
• cleo getting promoted to assistant dolphin trainer
• lewis being forced to play the drums in a band when he hasn’t played in 7+ years
• the concept of a mermaid who can sing
• don sertori remarrying and finally getting through the divorce
• on that, the brief comedic moment where cleo’s dad sings elvis karaoke in an embarrassing fashion in front of all her friends and then some
• cleo encouraging lewis to pursue his studies in the US and supporting him since he’s always been there for her
• rikki swimming with rodney
• the concept of a gem like the moon rock that could be extracted from a magical place like mako and made into pretty jewellery even though it meant cleo and rikki abandoned their ties to the former mermaids through the lockets

Ok ik this comes under the ‘Nate being a meme’ bullet point but Line Up Ladies’ was one of the highlights of the season for me tbh

if season three was gonna spend all this time on will instead of Bella (who deserves it) why not just make him the new merman and get it over with

me reading the tags where you theorise that will was initially supposed to be a merman but the writers changed their mind for some reason and made bella a mermaid while still giving will all the development and characterisation that should have been afforded to her: sure i'll incorporate that into my worldview!!

anyway if this is in fact true, i wonder if the jonathan shiff industrial complex knew that a spin-off might be in the works during the writing of season three, and knew that they wanted to centre a merman in the mako mermaids story? either way much 2 think about 🤔

i want to think that the girls helped rebuilding it and i think it's shown that it lost its magic.

BUT, I liked the explanation somebody put on the notes that says that it recharges with the full moons, so, my head canon is that eventually the moon pool recharged but the girls agreed to protect the place and never went there again to keep it a secret once and for all.

And just because, im connecting it with mako mermaids so it makes sense (just a little bit, that script is beyond salvation) that in the mm show the moon pool is different and the characters never bumped into any of the og girls

we just ignored that zane’s dad legit knows that they’re mermaids…no resolve on zane’s dad knowing emma’s mom when they were young….like there’s so much potential for character exploration especially to make Emma and Zane friends again because of the shared secret, they really wasted emma’s character for a horse guy😭 and reset everything by s2 cause like the marine biologist peeps still knows there’s a moon pool and mermaids can be made…its never brought up again sfdhsgsdhf

s3 but instead of ruining everything about him, zane is elevated to principal character and becomes the de facto human secret-protector when lewis leaves

lewis is all caution & preparation, zane knows only chaos

zane trying to solve mermaid problems could have spawned so many plotlines

plus actually spending time exploring his friendships with cleo & emma would be *chef’s kiss*

imagine your first kiss with someone is in the dead of night on a desert island surrounded by a ring of fire while both of you are in different stages of your respective mental breakdowns plus one of you straight up passes out afterwards rikki and zane h2o just add water you will always be famous

all he asked about when he confronted her later was the kiss. and her emotional meltdown. like not the fire?? boy was gonna risk it all after one lil smooch that almost killed him
